Unveiling Exoborne: Surviving Natural Disasters in a Post-Apocalyptic Extraction Shooter

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming tactical extraction shooter Exoborne is palpable, especially with its striking depiction of a perilous open world roiled by natural calamities. Recently, the developers have provided insights into the game’s immersive environment, engaging gameplay mechanics, and the emphasis on community involvement through a developer diary revealed during the Future Games Show at Gamescom, hosted by Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII.

Exoborne, crafted by Swedish studio Sharkmob and published by Level Infinite, transports players to a devastated United States grappling with the aftermath of a failed climate initiative set in a near-future timeline. Participants will navigate a landscape filled with enigmatic conflicts and at the same time, grapple against both adversarial players and the treacherous environment around them.

The game introduces various environmental challenges, including enormous tornados that can appear unexpectedly, significantly hindering your endeavors to scavenge loot and take down rival teams. This unpredictable nature ensures that each gaming session is distinct and highly fluid, necessitating quick, strategic decisions to navigate the hazards presented by both nature and other combatants in order to extract successfully.

As an extraction shooter, Exoborne offers a wealth of loot and enhancements available for scavenging throughout games. From advanced weaponry and attachments that modify weapon capabilities to enhancements for your super-human Exo-Rig that improve vertical mobility and provide special abilities, players have numerous options to gain an advantage. However, the stakes are incredibly high, as players will forfeit all their acquired items upon dying or failing to extract safely.

The development of Exoborne has been marked by a strong commitment to community engagement, with thousands of participants involved in closed testing. Feedback and data collected from these sessions are actively informing Sharkmob’s efforts to refine the game and introduce new content and features.

Though Sharkmob is still deeply engaged in the development of Exoborne and has not yet announced an official release date, players can look forward to experiencing the game on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam upon its launch. For ongoing updates and more information, make sure to follow Exoborne on Twitter and add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
